stretch bracelets are very simple to make. Stretch bracelets
are easier to make than bracelets that require clasps because
stretch bracelets can be made as one size fits all and don't
require special tools that are needed to attach clasps.
Materials needed to make stretch bracelets include:
Alphabet beads, pony
beads or any other beads of your choice,
Stretch Cord - cording is available in many thicknesses,
make sure to choose a cord that will work with all of the
beads that you select, Bead
Board & Bead Mat, Scissors, Ruler, Bead
Stoppers or small binder clips
MATERIALS - BEADS &
Beads are available in many types of materials including
plastic beads, glass beads, gemstone beads, pearl beads
and more. When choosing your stringing material to make
bracelets, pay attention to the hole sizes of your beads.
If you choose a cording that is too thick and the beads
have small holes, then the cording will not fit. If you
are making stretch bracelets, then you have several options
of stretch cord to fit small holes or larger holes. You
can strings beads together that have small and large holes,
just choose a string that will fit the smallest holes, this
means the string will fit the larger holes too.
For small hole beads, choose gossamer stretch cord or Stretch
Magic cord that is 0.5mm, 0.7mm or 1.0 mm thick. Stretch
cord is great for stringing beads to make necklaces or bracelets
because no special clasps are needed. The jewelry you make
will stretch to fit onto your wrist.
For beads with larger holes, you can use thin or thick cording.
You have more options with bigger hole beads because there
is more variety in the types of cords and string that will
fit. You can choose gossamer stretch cord or Stretch Magic
cord that is 0.5mm, 0.7mm or 1.0 mm thick, thicker 2mm elastic
cording, suede cording, cotton cording or hemp cording.
1. Use a bead board to arrange your beads in the correct
order and the correct length. Bracelet sizes can range from
6 to 8" depending on the size of the wrist.
2. Cut 10" of cording, attach a bead stopper or small
binder clip to the end. This will keep beads from falling
off the cording as you are stringing the beads on.
3. String on beads in desired order
4. Tie a double knot or a surgeon's knot. Trim excess cording.
Beaded bracelets are a lot of fun to make. Create friendship
bracelets using colorful pony beads
and plastic beads. Personalize
any bracelet with a special name, phrase or message using
alphabet beads and number
beads. Alphabet beads can be plastic or metal. Plastic
alphabet beads are round or cube shaped and are available
in several sizes. Metal alphabet beads such as pewter alphabet
beads or sterling alphabet beads can add elegance to any
jewelry or bead project.
